Eric Mack –
Mathematician, Data Scientist.
I’m a Data Scientist for the University of Idaho Foundation. I am fluent in current technologies such as Python, SQL, MS Excel (including coding custom functions), Power BI, Scikit-Learn, Keras, Jupyter notebooks, etc.
Visualization is my personal passion, including 3D visualizations and point clouds. I offer experience in Tableau, PowerBI, Matplotlib, and MatLab. I'm happy to learn and leverage any additional tool or technology necessary for the job.
I truly enjoy working with statistical methods, reinforcement learning, and uncertainty quantification. I am a broad thinker and experienced presenter. Get in touch to learn how I can offer quantifiable, scalable and creative solutions to your team.
SKILLS
Creativity
I'm constantly cooking up new projects, whether it's a visualiation and presentation to the CIO, or building a dodecahedron with my eight-year-old daughter out of cardboard from the recycling bin.
Precision
I am highly detail-oriented while keeping a close eye on the big picture. I can easily jump into any project and produce meaningful results.
Leadership
I lead teams and mentor those who may need a little inspiration. I easily manage projects both large and small, whether it's a single innovative module or an entire curriculum.
MY EXPERIENCE
Data Science
2024 - Present
I create meaningful and actionable data-driven solutions for the University of Idaho Foundation. I co-chair a new Predictive Machine Learning Team and am Lead Data Advisor to the offices of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. I work in Python, SQL (SSMS, SSRS), MS Excel, MS Dynamic 365 CRM, and Power Bi. I easily use and learn other technology as needed. I am often asked to lead round-table discussions and present to top executives.
Mathematics Professor
August 2004-June 2024
As a Full Professor of Mathematics, I engaged both technical and non-technical audiences. I offer over 20 years' experience presenting to learners, educators, the public and stakeholders. In addition to teaching, I provided NIC with data analysis, including building ETL pipelines, dynamic visualizations, and actionable insights for improvemnt of programs.
I have been creating unique curriculum and learning modules since graduate school. My visualizations have been used on grant-funded websites, in college classrooms, for colloquia I have founded, and for many talks and presentations.
In this vein, I created an innovative interdiciplinary course titled The Aesthetics and Mathematics of Musical Tuning, specifically designed to spark the interest of the artistic-minded learner at North Idaho College.
